CGA/CMA/CA – Joint Info Session

Are you interested in a career in accounting, but unsure of which designation to choose? Would you like to know more about the types of jobs you can get with a designation or would just like more information about the accounting field in general? If so, this is a perfect event for you!
At this joint info session, you’ll get the opportunity to hear presentations on Canada’s three accounting designations and have any questions answered by representatives from BC’s CGA, CMA and CA institutes. Even if you’re undecided about what you want to do after graduation, this event is a great way to learn about a very rewarding potential career path!

ASFV Board of Directors Nominations

Hello Students!

We are now accepting nominations for the May 2012 – April 2013 year for ALL executive positions. Most of us involved now will be graduating this year, so we need some fresh faces to come out and join the team! We are doing elections early to give an opportunity for the new executive team to work with the current team to get an idea of what’s involved.  This is a really great opportunity to get involved and network. It also looks fantastic to have on a resume and be able to talk about in interviews.

The elected members will be the Executive team from May 2012 – April 2013. I’ve included descriptions below of each position.  If you’d like to get involved, please email us and let us know which position you’d like to run for – or if you know someone who you think would be great, let us know and include their contact info as well so we can talk to them about it! 

Nominations will be accepted until Wednesday January 25th at 11:59pm, and elections will take place shortly thereafter.

The are 8 positions to run for: President, Vice President, Treasurer, VP Internal, VP External, Social Coordinator, CA Ambassador and CGA Ambassador

CGA Info Session – Thursday December 1st

Are you a prospective CGA student looking to learn more about this globally recognized designation? Or are you uncertain which accounting designation fits your goals and lifestyle? Are you graduating this spring and thinking about where to start your job search?

If you’re looking for answers to any of these questions, mark this upcoming event in your calendar… On Thursday December 1st at 11:30am, ASFV will be hosting a CGA Info Session with CGA’s very own Recruitment & Employment Manager, Jas Randhawa. Jas will be presenting on the following: 


  • How the CGA designation delivers a career you can count on.
  • The interesting and diverse positions held by CGAs.
  • How your post-secondary education delivers advanced standing in the CGA program.
  • How you can earn while you learn.
  • How your career advances while you are a student.
  • Upcoming CGA recruiting events in the Fraser Valley Area

CMA’s Post Secondary Wine & Cheese Night

November 2, 2011

On behalf of CMA BC, I would like to invite you to our annual Post-Secondary Wine and Cheese Night being held at the Earls V-Lounge in Yaletown on November 17th.

 

This annual networking event will give students the opportunity to learn more about the CMA designation and mingle with CMAs while feasting on delicious hors d’oeuvres. CMAs will be on hand from a variety of companies such as Lululemon, BC Hydro, Davis LLP, TELUS, Scotiabank, Best Buy, and Ledcor.

  Program & Networking: 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm

Langbroek Louwerse & Thiessen LLP, CGA – Info Session

On November 14th at 5:30pm, Langbroek Louwerse & Thiessen LLP will be hosting an info session at UFV’s Abbotsford campus. LLT is a Chilliwack-based CGA firm that focuses on agriculture, construction and small business clients. At this info session, you’ll have the chance to meet with partners and managers from the firm and learn what they have to offer. The firm is interested in hiring students for their upcoming tax season, so be ready to impress! Gaining experience in public practice during tax season looks great on your resumé and could lead to a full-time position after graduation! This event is highly recommended for 3rd and 4th year students.
