Langbroek Louwerse & Thiessen LLP, CGA – Info Session

On November 14th at 5:30pm, Langbroek Louwerse & Thiessen LLP will be hosting an info session at UFV’s Abbotsford campus. LLT is a Chilliwack-based CGA firm that focuses on agriculture, construction and small business clients. At this info session, you’ll have the chance to meet with partners and managers from the firm and learn what they have to offer. The firm is interested in hiring students for their upcoming tax season, so be ready to impress! Gaining experience in public practice during tax season looks great on your resumé and could lead to a full-time position after graduation! This event is highly recommended for 3rd and 4th year students.

CGA-BC Public Practice Speed Interview Night

If you are a recent post-secondary graduate, or soon to be graduating, and you are looking to begin or advance your career in public practice, consider attending the CGA Public Practice Speed Interview Night on Wednesday, October 26, 2011. This event is the first stage of the hiring process and involves brief interviews with 6-8 CGA firms. Attending could advance you to the next stage—receiving a call for a full-length interview and, from there, possibly landing a position in a CGA firm! This event is the initial stage of the hiring process used by CGA firms to employ quality staff. Their purpose is to have quick interviews with each candidate. The firms will contact selected individuals for full-length interviews at their office, and then may offer positions to selected candidates.

Register now as space is limited. Registration is on a first come, first served basis.

Where: Holiday Inn Vancouver Centre, 711 West Broadway, Vancouver, BC

When: Wednesday, October 26, 2011

Cost: Free

Time: Group 1 = 6-7PM, Group 2 = 7-8PM, Group 3 = 8-9PM

Delta – 1 intermediate position

Richmond – 1 intermediate to senior position

North Vancouver/New Westminster – all levels considered from entry level to senior level

Richmond – senior level

Downtown Vancouver – 1 junior level position and 1 intermediate level position

North Vancouver – 1-2 entry to senior level positions

CMA BC’s 5th Annual Post Secondary School Case Competition

We’re calling all intelligent, creative and passionate student leaders to participate in CMA BC’s 5th Annual Case Competition! It’s time to put on your thinking caps, bring together 3 or 4 of your brightest classmates and prepare a creative video or written submission for BC’s only business case competition for 1st and 2nd year students!

We are accepting team applications from now until midnight on Sunday, October 23th, 2011. This competition will be open to all first and second year students (Bachelor of Business Administration and Bachelor of Commerce) across British Columbia.

CIBC Run for the Cure

This year, we will be participating (for our third year in a row!) as Team ASFV in the CIBC Run for the Cure. We strongly encourage everyone to come out and support this amazing cause! In the past, we’ve raised almost $1000! You have the option of either fundraising a minimum of $150, or pay a $40 registration fee.

If you aren’t big into running, don’t be discouraged! There were a few of us that walked it last year and took less than an hour to complete.

The run takes place Sunday, October 2nd at Rotary Stadium in Abbotsford. To register, go to the link below, click on “Join ASFV,” and fill out your information from there.
