The annual BASA Tax Service is back again this year! Come by the Great Hall (by OREG in Abbotsford B-Building) between March 17 and April 11 from 9:00-4:30 (*NO TAX SERVICE MARCH 18, 20, and APRIL 10*) and have your taxes done for as low as $25 for a basic return.

Q: Are students trained enough to do my taxes?
A: Yes, absolutely. Firstly, one of the largest accounting firms in Canada, MNP LLP, is
helping train our students. Secondly, our reviewers have spent an entire course studying

Additionally, you will find that professional tax services use students on a regular basis for such
routine and simple returns.
Q: What is the turnaround time for a tax return?
A: 1-2 days. This turnaround requires that the individual submit all necessary forms and
information, so that the return can be processed right away.
Q: How can you only charge $25?
A: All of the students are volunteering their time to gain valuable experience in the area of tax.
Our professors are also volunteering their time. We sincerely appreciate their help. The
Business Department at UFV has remained a valuable partner throughout previous tax services.
Q: What do I need to bring to have my taxes done?
A: Common forms include but are not limited to:

Q: How is my privacy protected?
A: No hard copies of tax returns are kept on file. For files that are in process, they will be stored
in a locked filing cabinet in a secured room.

A: As of now we are not doing any sole proprietorship or corporate returns.

A: Expect about 4-6 weeks. Note: this is an estimate based on CRA’s website.
Q: What if I didn’t work last year? Do I still file?
A: Even if you didn’t have any employment income you may be eligible for other benefits and
deductions. Ask us for more details!
Q: Where do the proceeds go?
A: Right back to the students! The BASA is a non-profit student association, and the tax service
is a break-even service.
